This is the home on the Web of Visionary Artwork by Mid Wales artist Martin Herbert. I work in both digital and traditional media, now mainly using Mische Technique (an old master technique of painting with alternating layers of white egg-tempera and coloured oil glazes) which I learned in France and Austria from Ernst Fuchs, founder of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, and from one of his ex-students, Brigid Marlin, who now runs the international Society for Art of Imagination. I have been privileged to exhibit with the Society all over the UK and abroad.

In 1998 I got together with pagan artists Neil Geddes-Ward, Marc Potts, Mark Kirwen-Hayhoe, Poppy Palin and others in Glastonbury, England, where we formed the British Visionary Artists Group. Since then we have also exhibited successfully together many times.

After a round-the-world trip in 1999-2000 I moved to Llanidloes in Mid Wales, where there is a very active arts community, and I have now opened a studio/gallery there selling my own work. I now do all printing myself, using Epson Ultrachrome inks on acid-free fine art paper or artist's canvas, and this way you know you will never receive a print which I have not personally approved.
