A set of digital paintings representing the five elements - Fire, Water, Earth, Air, and Spirit. The four traditional Western elements (Fire, Earth, Air and Water) are based on ancient Greek philosophy, and represent the building blocks of life. In astrological terms, the body can be thought of as earthy, feelings as fluid, thoughts as airy, and energetic activity as fiery. Thus each element is attributed to three astrological signs this are thought to represent those qualities. A fifth element is often added to the original four, called 'Ether', 'Spirit' or even just 'Love'. It represents the intangible spirit of consciousness which animates those four building blocks into life itself.

Interestingly, the traditional five elements, thought to make up the whole of creation, correspond closely in scientific terms to states of matter - earth for solid, water for liquid, air for gas, fire for plasma, and spirit for energy - so everything in the universe really can be constructed from them!
