| One
of a series of works depicting 'totem animals' and their relationship
with the external and internal landscape. These paintings are not drawn
from one particular tradition - they incorporate elements of Celtic, Native
American, Australian Aboriginal and other belief systems which have as
a linking factor the close relationship between man and the natural environment. The Australian Aboriginal dreamtime myths tell of how the world was brought into being by animal ancestors who wandered the barren land singing into existence everything along their path. This picture reminded me of the myth - a hypothetical 'dolphin ancestor' tracks through the barren desert outback, singing into reality the fertile waters as it travels. |
